Hope, love and family come through in the 1959 film version of The Diary of Anne Frank. A young girl’s chronicle of trying to figure out who she was and how she fit into the world is all the more remarkable because of the circumstances she found herself in. Every member in the attic is portrayed with subtlety and realism. We can all imagine ourselves there and hopefully have the courage to prevent this from happening again.

The 400 Blows (Les Quatre Cents Coups)
A young boy cannot find his way in life, or any luck for that matter. He has careless parents, distrustful school authorities and a lot of curiosity and depth not seen or appreciated by the outside world. Given a more supportive environment, one wonders what he could become.
The Nun’s Story
A strong-willed but idealistic woman from a prominent family becomes a nun and embarks on a journey that tests her faith and demands that she develop disciplined habits at every turn.
Some Like It Hot
Perfectly structured comedy about two musicians so desperate for work (and to escape the mobsters pursuing them) that they impersonate women to get a job in an all-girl band. The band’s lead singer is Marilyn Monroe, and this makes their attempt more difficult. Zany and entertaining from start to finish, the film has a lot to say about the identities we project and how we see other people.
We Are Altogether Crazy (Vi er allesammen tossede)
A man is convinced his car was damaged by an elephant, and this leads to his being sent to an insane asylum. What is reality, and how sane is society itself? A comedic Danish classic that will make you think as much as it makes you chuckle.
