Courage is a child in the Universal themes series and is part of the Justice theme family. This is a theme overview post.

Courage is facing difficulties or danger with resolve, using reserves of inner strength. You do what must be done despite fear, danger or likely failure.

  • The more you follow what is comfortable, the more frightened you become of everything else.
  • You must embrace your fears and feel your pain before you can begin to let them go.
  • The bravest person may be the most afraid but learns to become stronger by facing the fear.
  • Humility is the doorway to new things and a fuller life.
  • You can only become stronger by trying.

Courage key concepts

  • Aggression is an unprovoked attack. Forceful, attacking behavior, either for self-assertion, self-protection or destructively hostile.
  • Bravery is a willingness to face danger, pain, or trouble without showing bother about it.
  • A cause is the force that spurs something into existence. It forms the basis for an action or decision. Any objective or movement that a person or group cares about and works to achieve.
  • Character is a distinctive trait. The essential quality of someone or something. The pattern of behaviors and traits that defines anything.
  • Concentration is the ability to focus one’s attention, thoughts, and efforts to one central point. Giving one’s full attention to one thing.
  • Cowardice is a lack of courage, giving into one’s fears and abandoning duty, values or accountability.
  • Denial is a refusal to believe, accept or recognize something. Saying no.
  • Hesitation is the pause in a state of indecision, unsure of which way to go.
  • A reward is something given for behavior, positive or negative, the reward being equivalent to the action.
  • To temper is to make suitable, desirable or free from excess. Bring to a balanced state of intensity in order to control emotions or actions.
