Universal theme overview
Patterns is a child in the Universal themes series and is a member of the Cycles theme family. This is a theme overview post
Patterns are archetypal models that show common occurring or repeating qualities. We can use these models to explore or create ideas, and works of art.

Big ideas

- Your life is made by the patterns that you create. Be conscious of the repetitions.
- Structure is the container for growth and creativity.
- You are already a perfectly balanced mix of all your parts.
- Archetypes are models that illuminate but they do not replace individual thinking.
- When something exceptional occurs, notice it and celebrate it.
Patterns key concepts

- In coherence, all parts of the whole have an orderly or logical relationship. They work together.
- Entropy is a lack of predictable order, with randomness and apparent chaos in control.
- An exception is a case that does not conform to the normal rules. Exclusion from normal way of things.
- Formality is following exact accepted procedures of doing things. The recognized or accepted ways that become strict established customs.
- Idealism is imagining things in their perfect form. Looking at situations, theories or behaviors as if they are pure and will resolve in favor of that essential purity.
- A model is an object that represents another object, for planning or design purposes. The design that is to be copied.
- Perfection means lacking nothing essential, the most pure and complete version of something, without flaws.
- To repeat is to happen again. The same thing is said, done, experienced or produced over.
- Rituals are ceremonial acts, or a series of behaviors repeated regularly, for a specific (often spiritual) purpose.
- A utopia is a condition, place or state that has no flaws. A goal or idea for reform that seeks to completely end conflict.
