Poetry key concepts

- An abstract is something that is theoretical rather than practical. It is not easily defined in concrete terms.
- Communion is a connection between two or more people or entities, a giving and receiving of thoughts, emotions and ideas.
- The essence is the qualities of a thing that give it its identity, those crucial and indispensable elements that distinguish it from everything else.
- Form is the outward structure and appearance of something, distinct from its content.
- Metaphor is stating that an item is a different, usually not connected, item to show a figurative rather than literal relationship.
- Something realistic is portrayed artistically as close to its natural state as possible.
